YWCA Metropolitan Chicago’s 52nd Annual Leader Luncheon, She the People, will take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on Friday, October 25th!

This signature annual event will celebrate the individual and collective actions women across a diverse array of sectors have taken, and will continue to take, to bring the vision of a more perfect union into greater focus, for all of us.

Leader Luncheon 2024 Honorees

  • Dorothy Tucker, a Chicago native, has been a prominent figure in journalism since joining CBS2 Chicago in 1984. Currently serving as a reporter on the station's 2 Investigator team, she has also held the role of President of the National Association of Black Journalists. Throughout her career, Tucker has received numerous accolades, including the Robert G. McGruder Award for Diversity Leadership in 2022, regional Edward R. Murrow awards in 2021, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chicago Association of Journalists.

In 2023, Tucker and the CBS Chicago 2 team launched an investigative series, “Investigating Injustice,” examining the disparate impact of crime on Black women in Chicago. CBS Chicago found in 2022 that, although Black women only make up 16% of the city’s population, they accounted for victims in 1 of 3 crimes that year. The reporting and actions that followed included powerful narratives of community and gender-based violence survivors, a community forum featuring leaders discussing solutions, a resource guide for Black women, and a call from a local alderman to form a task force.
