Put Families First

Our Chicago-area communities have always shown remarkable resilience, turning obstacles into opportunities.

Today, however, we’re on the precipice of something different – a new family pressure point:

  • Increasing financial stress and job instability, rising costs, and the physical and mental load of balancing work and home life.

  • Parent and caregiving pressure, with only limited and wildly unaffordable support.

  • Government support systems that families have historically relied on to offset childcare, employment search, healthcare and housing costs are all at risk.

Families are one just one missed paycheck, one poor health diagnosis, or one late rent payment away from disaster.

This is our moment to rise.

We must act boldly to protect the future of women, children, parents, and caregivers in our communities. That’s why YWCA Metropolitan Chicago has launched the Families Futures Fund, which is a powerful commitment to advance healing, safety, and belonging for every family in our region.

We invite you to join us in supporting the Families Futures Fund by taking the following pledge and making a financial contribution:

I will put Families First by pledging, advocating and investing in the success of every family. By putting Families First, I believe that:

  • Every family should have equal access to quality, affordable and reliable childcare, delivered by nurturing and caring teachers who are committed to ensuring every child is curious, loved and kindergarten ready.

  • Teachers, childcare owners and early childhood professionals are equipped with the resources needed to provide the highest quality of education while also earning the income needed to take care of themselves and their own families. Childcare is the backbone of our economy enabling parents to achieve success.

  • All families have equal opportunity to contribute to our economy and build savings through employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Work opportunities where families have access to paid time off, health insurance and the opportunity to grow and develop is the norm.

  • All members of each family to be healthy, safe, experience belonging and have the courage to pursue their dreams without the hardship of harassment whether they’re at home, school, work or the broader community.

  • When families succeed, we all succeed. This is about caring for our neighbors and building a thriving society.

This new political reality necessitates a new level of action, a new level of care for one another and a new level of leadership from the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago.

All donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000.
