YWCA Metropolitan Chicago is hosting a 6-week, in-person, papermaking group for English-speaking adult survivors of sexual violence. In this group, we will explore trauma healing using art, our bodies, and community. Group members can expect to learn about the papermaking process with guidance
from the facilitators. Papermaking supplies will be provided. A brief screening is required to establish for group readiness.
Papermaking originated in Asia. It consists of the mixing of elements, such as pieces of paper, flowers, scents, colors, etc. After mixing these elements, a frame and screen are used to hold and pressurize the mixture. This will then become a gorgeous piece of paper.
